    Shai Hills

    Baboons, baboons and even more baboons are seen in the open savannas and evergreen forests of Shai Hills. These amusing primates are some of the world’s largest monkeys, and Ghana is where some call home. You’ll have a chance to see the baboons up close and feed them bananas; but be warned, baboons are opportunistic eaters, so keep your eyes wide open, as they love to snatch anything that’s unattended including food and other belongings you might carry.

    NB: Please note that trips to see the baboons will be supervised as your safety is highly important to us.

    Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary

    For over 200 years, the Mona monkeys have inhabited the tropical forest surrounding the small village of Tafi Atome. The village has practiced conversation as a culture by keeping the monkeys sacred as it’s believed that the monkeys were messengers to the gods of the ancestors. The tropical forests of Tafi Atome are home to over 200 Mona monkeys. The playful monkeys are wild and come out to play; posing for pictures as you say “cheese” and grabbing bananas as you offer them.

    Mount. Afadja

    Calling all hiking lovers, this is your destination! Mount. Afadja is one of Ghana’s highest mountains at an impressive elevation of 885 metres (2,904 ft) above sea level. Mount. Afadja derives its name from the Ewe word “Avadzeto” which means “at war with the bush”. The mountain certainly promises an energising experience, with its great hiking trails, lush vegetation and panoramic views. Take on a new challenge with a hike that will leave you feeling accomplished when you get to experience the view at the top of the mountain.

    Wli Waterfalls

    Present at all seasons of the year, Wli Waterfalls is one of Ghana’s top waterfalls to visit. The waterfalls is known locally as Agumatsa waterfalls meaning, ‘allow me to flow’. This waterfall consists of two parts; the lower falls and the upper falls which is estimated to be an amazing 600m drop from the very top. Most tourist make the easy walk to the lower falls, which is mostly a flat trail but stunning and beautiful in setting. However, the high and much more exceptional upper falls is a special treat for those with the stamina for a hiking challenge. Along the way you’ll see nature at its best, with over 400 butterfly species, 200 kinds of birds, and thousands of fruit bats nesting high up in the nearby cliffs, walking to the waterfalls is like being in paradise

    Mount. Gemi

    Calling all those who are up for a hill walking and mountain climbing expedition! With extraordinary scenery and beautiful valleys, there is no other place like Mount. Gemi. As the nearby town of Amedzofe is already very high in altitude, the peak of the mountain is actually a short climb from town. Awaiting at the very top of the mountain, as a mark of achievement, is a tall cross made of iron erected by German missionaries in 1939. Attached on the cross is the remnant of a communication antenna used by the Germans during World War II. Not only is Mount. Gemi a lovely hike, its stories will serve as a history lesson for those with an interest.
